New C.A.R.P. Cycling Jerseys have been in the design process for several months and the new design RAWKS! The Jersey's are still about 8 weeks away from being delivered however. We'll keep ya posted....sorry I don't have a pic yet to post.
If anyone has visited with Robbie Rose lately...shoot me an e-mail on how he's doing or better yet...Robbie if your out there surfin the cyber waves...shoot me an e-mail on how everything is going. For those not aware, Robbie Rose was a local bike mechanic who contracted a rare bone cancer. The cycling community got together and did some fund raisers to help with the expensive treatments. Last we heard, he was recovering most excellently after surgery and chemo. Let us know....

C.A.R.P. Online Membership Notes.......<--Posted Saturday, January 24, 2004 by Gary
|
Quick notes on managing your C.A.R.P. membership online:
1. Upon membership expiration(assuming we have your correct e-mail address) each C.A.R.P. member will recieve an e-mail 2 days before your membership expires. After 7 days the membership is automatically deleted. Basically if you forget to renew, a member can use the online sign-up form or obtain the membership at a local bike shop/regular mail.
2. Visa and Mastercard are the only credit cards accepted for online registration. The online process walks you thru two online forms. Filling out the first form and ignoring the second form does not buy your membership. Both online forms must be filled out completely with your credit card information to purchase your C.A.R.P membership online.
3. C.A.R.P. Memberships are available at local participating bike shops or through snail mail as always. If you purchase your C.A.R.P. membership at a local bike shop or through snail mail, your online profile tool takes 7 to 10 days to appear on the site. If you do not provide an e-mail address on the sign-up form, you won't be able to recieve e-mail updates about managing your online profile.
4. It is possible, we may have your membership loaded twice in our online engine. If you are currently registered with an online active membership which is not due to expire for awhile and you recieve an expiration notice for a second dead account. Ignore the dead account and it will go away magically :-)
5. Our engine here does extensive credit card validation and checking. Your card number is always encrypted and never viewable except by you while your signing up. We do not see the number nor is it stored on the server here. Your encrypted number and encrypted data are passed directly to the banks involved for the transaction. Remember....a C.A.R.P one year membership is less then two Wendy burgers with two fry orders and drinks :-)
6. C.A.R.P. is still working with Camp Robinson to enable your e-mail receipt for use as a temporary membership until your laminated membership card arrives. Please do not try to use your e-mail receipt to gain entrance to Camp Robinson. You will be turned away unless you have your official C.A.R.P. membership card.
Stay Tuned for more as the C.A.R.P Mountain biking adventure continues...

C.A.R.P. Club Members,
Short Notice but if you can make it.....The Headwaters Partnership, an initiative of Little Rock Parks and Recreation, has invited all C.A.R.P. members to a press conference announcement of the Medical Mile section of the River Trail at noon tomorrow (Tuesday, January 20th) at Heart Clinic Arkansas, 10100 Kanis Road (Next to Baptist Medical Center). Former Arkansas Bicycle Club President and BACA Board member Dr. Rob Lambert and his medical group, Heart Clinic Arkansas, are leading the effort to create the Medical Mile on the Little Rock side of the River Trail. The Medical Mile portion of the Trail will be sponsored by the medical community of central Arkansas. Donors will receive recognition of their contribution to help prevent heart disease by markers along that section of the Trail (from Rebasamen Park Rd to the Baring Cross bridge).
If possible, please show your support for this great project and for Rob by attending the press conference. Food will be provided.
Speaking of the River Trail...here's a cool Murray Bridge Status link courtesy of Joel over at the ABC Forums:

C.A.R.P News Feed and Pics.....<--Posted Monday, January 12, 2004 by Gary

Geeky stuff here....If anyone uses a news reader like RDF Ticker which parses XML/RSS dynamic news feeds. The C.A.R.P. news feed is available as a dynamic RSS link for your reader. Copy and paste the link at the bottom of the page into your reader and you can scan the news here along with all your other news feeds. Lots O' readers out there on the web so the feed may not be compatible with all of the readers but should work for most.
If you have pics from a C.A.R.P. ride or event....contact me about getting those pics uploaded for use on the pic of the day.

Fat Tire Ale in Arkansas and more.....!<--Posted Friday, January 9, 2004 by Doug
|
The bad news: Mountain Lions like the taste of mountain bikers.
The good news: New Belgium Brewery of Ft. Carson, CO, is finally bringing Fat Tire Ale, 1554 Ale and Sunshine Wheat Beer to Arkansas. After a 3 year delay, New Belgium will send its first shipment into Arkansas on January 19. Jonathan Looney at O'Looney Wine and Spirits (821-4669) thinks that the first shipment will be gone in a matter of hours and that it will then take 60 days to get the distribution channels to the point where product is routinely being delivered. So if you are a fan of any New Belgium brews and want to get in on the first delivery, give Jonathan a call. You can preorder with a credit card number.
Thx Steve S for keeping us in the loop!
***Amex and Discover Update*** American Express and Discover are no longer being accepted for online payment. Only Visa and Mastercard are accepted for online payment. Thanks Gary

Be on the Lookout for Stolen Bike<--Posted Monday, January 5, 2004 by Gary

On 1/4/04 my 2004 Santa Cruz Blur was stolen out of my truck. It was parked at home in Hillcrest across street from Canon Grill. The bike has an anodized black frame, Easton seatpost and bar, Mavic rims with Avid disc brakes. Also stolen were 2 bike jerseys, including my " CARP " jersey. The police officer that took report suggested that I let everyone that I know in the bike community about this. That way if anyone see's someone out of the ordinary on a bike like this, you can notify the police or myself. My home # is 501-833-1672. Thanks in advance for any help. ---Scott Saunders
