Two Gray Pit Bulls Found at Camp....<--Posted Monday, January 30, 2006 by Gary
|
I recieved this email this morning. Maybe someone will know something. Let me know and I'll try to help if I can. Gary
Hello, Stephanie Shepherd here. I was out at camp this morning riding with my father, Steve, and we encountered two stray dogs. I was hoping you could send a note out to the CARP email list to alert everyone. As we started down the road to towards the trail, two beautiful steal gray pit bulls (one male, one female) came trotting down the road. They were incredibly friendly - no aggression, barking, growling, etc. to us or the bikes. They decided to follow us and no amount of yelling "go home" worked. The male was worn out after about 8 miles and we lost him somewhere on the Porta-potty loop. The female followed us all the way back to the parking area. We gave her some water and headed out. Both were very healthy, well fed, with clipped ears and a white patch on their chest. They looked like they were someones pet, but had no collars.
When we got to the police station to sign-out we alerted the officers present. One of them went out with dog food to check on the female. I did not check with the police later in the day to find out what happened. I'm concerned about the male roaming out there by himself, not to mention either of the dogs being stuck in the NLR shelter. I would like other Carp members to be on the lookout and know they are friendly dogs. If I didn't live all the way in Fayetteville, I would have taken them home myself.
Thanks,
Stephanie Shepherd

For years the Arky 100 has been held in Sheridan Arkansas and hosted by ABC. This coming year, the Arky appears to be moving to Little Rock. Spotted this info over at the ABC forums....ABC needs help with volunteers, if anyone is interested...holler at Monty:
In order to make this event successful, we need your help. We are seeking 75-100 volunteers. Without their help, we will not be able to provide all of the services and support we wish to have available. With your help, we can make the ARKY one of the premier century rides in the region.....
Looks like a nice opportunity for potential sponsors to get in on the ground floor.
Speaking of sponsors, Orbea's breaking out some kewl sponsorships for the Luna Pro Mountain, Tri, Cross Teams.
...and Scott Warren has been sited over at Competitive Cyclist.
Over at the BikeArkansas forums, Ed posted about the 2006 AMBCS team rules updates.
And for our online mileage loggers...out on BikeJournal.com, (login required) their are two listings for CARP, Heh....can we consolidate our miles somehow?
From the Road - The CARVE A-team has merged with Memphis Motorwerks...website here. The team just held a training camp in Little Rock.

"The Ride" coming to Camp this weekend.....<--Posted Wednesday, January 11, 2006 by Gary

Just got word "The Ride" is bringin the Conway gang to Camp this weekend...here's the note from Wes. If your in Conway, you maybe able to catch a ride in the van so holler at Wes if your interested in catching a ride in the van. You may want to stop in "The Ride" to pick up your CARP card since it takes us a few days to get the card out....
Hey Guys and Gals. A few people are planning on going to Camp Robinson in North Little Rock this weekend to ride. This is, in my opinion, the sweetest group of trails in central Arkansas. All of the trails are loop trails and they range anywhere from fast and flat, to steep and technical. You could literally ride all day at this place and not hit every trail you wanted. The van will leave from the shop at approximately 1:00 pm on Sunday afternoon. If you want a ride in the van let me know because there are already 4 of us going so there are only 4 spots left. You are welcome to follow us up in your own vehicle. Note: If you do take your own vehicle you will need your Drivers license, proof of insurance, and registration or they will not let you on the base. Everyone who plans on going will also need a CARP card. It's only $10.00 and it last for 1 year. You have to have this to ride on these trails. You can go here to get your card- http://www.carpclub.com/join.html If you have any questions email or call my cell at 501.730.8643. P.S. The new Specialized Carbon Epic is at THE RIDE. Go in there and check it out. Just try not to drool on Eriks pretty carpet. Later Wesley P. Pruitt Executive Leasing Coordinator Liberty Opportunities, Inc. Officials Clinic
A Category C Officials Clinic will be held at the Mercy Fitness Center in Fort Smith, Saturday Jan 21st starting at 9:00 AM.
If anyone is interested in becoming a NORBA official, they just need to take the class, which lasts about 8 hours, pass the test (Steve makes sure we all pass), and pay for the license.
The class also teaches Road and track officiating. Officials will be eligible to work road, track, and NORBA events, and make money while doing so.
For more info on the clinic contact Mike McDonald at 479-409-4886, or velomacd4@netzero.com
