BACA & Arkansas Bicycle Club Joint Meeting for Thursday, March 2nd, 7 p.m. at the Oyster Bar - Bicycling through Vietnam & Cambodia on a Tandem Recumbent.
Presentation on Ken & Judy's (Ken Gould & Judy Lansky) bicycling adventure through Vietnam & Cambodia on our tandem recumbent bicycle last December & early January. There are actually some positive bicycle advocacy lessons that we could adopt from these otherwise developing countries. Plus, the trip was one incredible adventure & I think we have put together an interesting & entertaining PowerPoint presentation with minimal commentary. Come see for yourself. -----------------------------------

Latest info on the Lake Ouachita Vista Trail from the Arkansas Biycling Forums....
We rode this trail a few weeks back and I think it is going to be really nice, a few little steep sections but overall a great trail.
Lake Ouachita Vista Trail Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Invitation
Everyone is invited to be one of the first to hike or bike this eye opening new trail that winds along the shores of beautiful Lake Ouachita. The ribbon cutting ceremony for the first 5 mile leg of a projected 30 mile trail will be held on March 10, 2006 at 1:00 pm at the southern trail head. We are looking for a large group of hikers and bikers to inaugurate the trail immediately following the ribbon cutting. We need the ground packing of feet and wheels to put the finishing touches on this new trail. The trail is a product of over three years of planning and construction by the Denby Bay Coalition led by the Lake Ouachita Citizens Focus Committee.
Directions for the ceremony: From Hot Springs: Go west from Hot Springs on US Highway 270 approximately 21 miles from the last Hot Springs traffic light. Turn right onto Shangri-La Road go one block and turn left onto Trail’s End Road and go one mile to the end of the road. There will be a large tent set up on the trail parking lot.
From Mt. Ida: Go east on US Highway 270 approximately 10 miles. Turn left onto Shangri-La Road and go one block. Turn left onto Trail’s End Road and go one mile to the end of the road. There will be a large tent set up on the trail parking lot.
Shuttle service will be available, upon request, for hikers and bikers who would like to hike or bike the complete 4.7 miles following the ceremony.

Lake Ouachita Vista Trail (LOViT) Update.....<--Posted Friday, February 3, 2006 by Gary

Copied and pasted from the bikerkansas forums...sweet!
Lake Ouachita Vista Trail (LOViT) Update For those of you who do not know this already there is a new trail coming to the Ouachita's. The grand plan of the trail is to eventually go around the entire lake. Right now they have about 7 miles of the trail done and is open to mountain bikes. The section that is opened starts over at Shangri La Resort, we may try to ride it this weekend. They are now working on getting the trail over to Denby Point. Once this section is complete they will begin on the second section sometime in early fall for another 6 -8 miles.
March 9 - 12 the IMBA trail crew will be down for a trail building class, do some trail work and ride the trail. On Friday the 10th there will be an official ribbion cutting ceremony at the trail. If you are interested in any of these or helping out to build this new trail please contact me mtbark@sbcglobal.net
Every biker in the Ouachita area should be involved with this and donate a little of his or her time. We all like to ride the trails but we also have to build and maintain them as well. I will see if we can get a pay dirt day scheduled as well. So if you live in Little Rock, Hot Springs, Fort Smith, Mena, or anywhere in between come and help out with this trail and even if you don't live in the Ouachita's and just want to be a trail advocate then come on out.
I will get more information out as soon as I recieve it about the IMBA trail work shop.
