Marzocchi Recalls Certain 2008 Forks...<--Posted Wednesday, February 11, 2009 by Gary

From BRAIN... Marzocchi Recalls Certain 2008 Forks WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRAIN)—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Tenneco-Marzocchi s.r.l, have issued a voluntary recall of some 2008 forks.
The suspension system on bikes with the recalled forks (roughly 70) could become completely compressed and fail to return to its original position after a forceful landing. This can cause riders to lose control of the bicycle and crash. The forks can also expand forcefully if repair is attempted by the consumer, posing a risk of serious injury.....read more here...
The Station Grocery and Deli Grand Opening Feb 21<--Posted Tuesday, February 10, 2009 by Chef Mongo
|
Aw yeah now....the Chef here...sorry it's been awhile. Some friends of mine are opening up "The Station Grocery and Deli" at the wedge formed by the intersection of Kavanaugh and Markam and will celebrate it's grand opening on Saturday Feb 21st. Why is this important? The store will be in close proximity to the Orbea Factory Outlet store which is handing out lots of demo rides these days. The store will specialize in organic, gourmet, specialty, health, and especially locally produced foods and goods! Can you say "Locally brewed beer and locally produced wines"!!!
So put 2 + 2 together and schedule a demo ride and grab a cold one plus a deli sandwich after the ride. Open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the grand opening will have live music, door prices and food to sample, and chair massages! Reminds me of Joe and Trilok....where are you Zahid? (youtube - turn it up loud - SMOKIN!)

Sylamoo update--Don't go!<--Posted Wednesday, February 4, 2009 by Gary
|
This just in about the Sylamoo from Hap Seliga from Chris Furr-- All of the trails on the Sylamore District are closed and will be for the next foreseeable future. It's not safe to ride or work, so please don't come until we can get a handle on this. We have crews out working long days, but after 4 days of work, Green Mountain road still wasn't even open to the Bad Branch Trailhead today. I'm not sure when we'll be able to start sawing out the trail, but the real danger is overhead hazards. Trees and tops that are hung up are still coming down today in the wind. We are doing everything we can and I will keep you posted. As soon as it's safe to ride or work I'll let you know.

New trails in Conway!!!!<--Posted Monday, February 2, 2009 by Gary

Tim Duvall has been working on the trails at Cadron Park in Conway. Get your mtn. bike and try them out. If you have any questions, contact him at windmagnet@gmail.com
I (Tim) just finished two more days of working this week out at Cadron Trails and the final connecting trail is complete. There still needs to be 3 more bridges built, more rocks to be removed, and some benches cut into the side hills in some areas so it will continue to get better. I put some of the trail markers up at the beginning of the new trail and plan to put more up later in the preferred direction of travel only. This front section has a lot of vines in some places but I plan to remove them soon.
The best way to ride all the trails is to begin on the gravel trail at the bottom. After topping the hill and curving to the right, you will see the markers on the new trail on the right just past the cemetery. Turn right there and stay on the trail until it puts you back on the gravel below the pavilion. Head up the gravel trail from there to the pavilion and down the back side to complete the outer loop. At the end of the outer loop, veer right and stay on the trail where you will eventually finish near the end of the gravel trail. It is about 6 miles of trails now without doing much of the gravel trail.
Take I-40 to the new Conway exit on the west side of town which is exit 124. Turn right (west) onto hwy 64. Travel 3.4 miles west on hwy 64 then turn left on hwy 319 at the base of the first bridge. Travel 1.6 miles to the end of hwy 319 and the park is on the right. Begin riding at the bottom of the park where the sign and trailhead are.

BACA meeting, February 5, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Oyster Bar, 3003 W. Markham, Little Rock. We welcome in a new year of health, fitness, and bicycle advocacy with an exciting program. We have asked Laura Kelly, head of Bicycle Coalition of the Ozarks (BCO)to come to Little Rock to share ideas and experiences. Bicycle Coalition of the Ozarks is a well-established, active bicycle advocacy organization in Northwest Arkansas. For more information see www.bconwa.com. We hope you will welcome Laura to Little Rock, and learn about activities in Northwest Arkansas that we might be able to implement here. It is important for Laura Kelly and the folks in Northwest Arkansas to know that there are lots of supporters of bicycle advocacy in Central Arkansas, so please attend. As always there will be good food and good company.
For minutes of the December 4, 2008 meeting, check the meetings link.
