Camp Closed Tuesday--Jingle Bell Ride Christmas Eve..<--Posted Monday, December 20, 2004 by Gary
Camp called and they will be having a controlled burn on Tues in TA02 (where we are) so it will be closed to riding. My guess is if you plan to ride Wed. it would be good to call before driving out there.

The Annual Jingle Bell ride will be this Christmas Eve at 1:30. We will leave the parking lot and ride just a few miles (of course we will have pictures at the Christmas tree at 2:00 so bring your camera.) Decorate your bike with ribbons and lights and of course Jingle Bells. No hard ride just fun in the woods.

Just what kind of People are we talking about?<--Posted Wednesday, December 8, 2004 by Gary
I recieved this email this morning and had to share it with you. It is self explanitory if you just read the last article.
Gary

Gary,
I've been a CARP member and patient at the heart clinc
for many years. I'm 42 and after open heart surgery
could not be a CARP member without them. I called the
clinic today at 8am and asked when I could come in.
My nurse asked if I could be there at 10am. They are
really amazing. I've been in Health Care for over 20
years and they are the best group of professionals
I've ever know. I trust my heart and my life to
them.

Ride on...

A Big Thanks to Rob and Eleanor!.....<--Posted Tuesday, December 7, 2004 by Gary
At the BACA meeting last Thursday we urged BACA members & friends to attend the meeting of the Little Rock City Council tomorrow night (Wed) to show our support for the council’s vote to purchase the Union Pacific Railroad property from the Baring Cross Bridge to the River Market for the River Trail (the Medical Mile portion of the trail). The purchase vote has now been placed on the council's “consent agenda” which means that it will be considered & pass as a non-controversial matter. As a result, our presence at the meeting will not be critical to the council’s approval of the purchase. However, we still invite all bicyclists to attend to let the council know that we appreciate their voting in favor of the purchase.

In addition, Heart Clinic Arkansas will be making a presentation about the Medical Mile & Heart Clinic Arkansas & Doctors Eleanor Kennedy and Rob Lambert, two BACA members from the Heart Clinic who have been moving forces behind the Medical Mile, will be recognized. So, another reason to attend the meeting is to show support & appreciation for the absolutely incredible work that Eleanor & Rob have done to develop the Medical Mile. The City Council meeting is at 6 p.m. in the 2nd floor council meeting room at City Hall at 2nd & Broadway. Hope to see you there.

We hope you have a very happy holiday season.

For BACA,

Ken Gould

C.A.R.P. Membership Info Reminder....<--Posted Sunday, December 5, 2004 by Gary
Each CARP member who provides a legitimate e-mail address will recieve an e-mail notification 30 days before your CARP membership expires. Every member has plenty of time to renew online and recieve your CARP card in the mail before membership expires. Memberships purchased before your current expiration are marked "Future". Once your current membership expires, the "Future" membership automatically activates, making maintenance of your CARP membership seemless and easy.

Merry Christmas!

Reminder: BACA Meeting Thursday Night, 7 p.m Oyster Bar<--Posted Thursday, December 2, 2004 by Gary
Reminder: BACA Meeting Thursday Night, 7 p.m., Oyster Bar

Steve Shepherd has arranged an exciting program for our meeting. Retiring Little Rock Police Chief Lawrence Johnson will be the featured speaker. He and his wife are bicyclists and can be seen biking on the River Trail. He will talk about bicycling in Central Arkansas from the viewpoint of a police officer. In addition, a Little Rock bicycle patrol officer will speak about the experiences
of being a bicycle patrol officer, including the physical demands of the job. Please plan on attending to show your support for Little Rock's finest and to have a good time with fellow bicyclists. We will also have a report on the recent BACA Board meeting and an update on developments affecting bicyclists in Central Arkansas.

Hope to see you there.

DON’T FORGET - THIS FRIDAY MORNING:

FIRST FRIDAYS BIKE TO WORK AND - OR BREAKFAST AT THE RIVER MARKET

Bike from the I-430 Bridge & River Trail at the foot of River Mountain Road to the Downtown Little Rock River Market at 6:30 a.m. this Friday (& the first Friday of every month). To participate in First Fridays Bike to Work you need only show up & be ready to
ride. The rides are very informal. THERE IS NO POLICE ESCORT, NO TRANSPORT FOR CLOTHING, NO PLACE TO LOCK UP YOUR BIKE (at the River Market there are bike racks to which your bike could be locked), NO EXTRA SECURITY FOR CARS LEFT IN THE PARKING LOTS, ETC. In short, no services, security, or support other than the group ride itself. Of course, participation does not require that you actually bike to work downtown. Some participants bike to breakfast at the River Market & then return.

Hope to see you there too. For details -
