Support the Big Dam Bridge<--Posted Sunday, December 28, 2008 by Gary

From Ken..... Friends of the Big Dam Bridge,
By now nearly all bicyclists, runners and walkers in Central Arkansas have come to appreciate the tremendous value that the Big Dam Bridge has brought to our community. Two years ago Pulaski County Judge Buddy Villines formed the Big Dam Bridge Foundation to help insure that the BDB would serve as an outdoor center for community health, fitness, recreational and cultural activities. To date the Foundation has sponsored the highly successful annual BDB 5K run and BDB 100 bicycle ride and looks forward to initiating additional events such as BDB Community Walks, health fairs, and BDB photography and art contests.
Conducting the BDB 5K and BDB 100 at the professional level we have established involves considerable expense. For instance, the cost of retaining law enforcement personnel to help ensure the safety of participants is approximately $20,000 alone. Although Pulaski County initiated the inaugural BDB 5K and BDB 100, the county does not provide any funding for either event. Registration fees for the BDB events cannot pay all costs involved in the work of the Foundation. We must look to friends of the Big Dam Bridge for financial assistance. Please help continue and expand the activities and events associated with the bridge by making a contribution to the work of the Big Dam Bridge Foundation. For a $50 contribution you will receive a beautiful Big Dam Bridge t-shirt; for a $100 contribution will get a 50% reduction in the registration fee to either the BDB 5K to be held July 11, 2009 or the BDB 100 to be held September 26, 2009; and for a contribution of $250 or more you will receive free registration to either the BDB 5K or the BDB 100. Since the Foundation is a qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organization, your contributions will be tax deductible. Contributions should be sent to: Big Dam Bridge Foundation, 111 Evonshire Dr., Arkadelphia AR 71923. Please indicate the size t-shirt you want (S, M, L, or XL). Learn more about the Big Dam Bridge Foundation at our website, www.bigdambridge.org.
Thank you very much for helping to support the continued development of Big Dam Bridge Foundation activities and events.

Tinker Recovering......<--Posted Friday, December 12, 2008 by Gary

Wow....I just got word of this.....happened back in Nov....Tinker has been a good friend of CARP for a long time now.....
Tinker Juarez has done just about everything on a bicycle including Race Across America, but his latest "first" was hitting a car door at 20+ mph on his first ride on a new super six. The story goes Tinker was JRA and parked car opened its door sending the 24hr champion to the pavement and then the emergency room.
In classic Juarez style he is ok and suffering just a few nasty bruises. Tinker your Cannondale Family wishes you a speedy recovery and will be sending out a fresh 54cm to you in the next few days.

Camp Closed Dec 13th - 15th....Bikes For Tikes<--Posted Wednesday, December 3, 2008 by Gary

The CRWMP Cantonment Area 1 Deer Hunts will be and 13-15th December 2008. This area is restricted to CRWMP archery hunting activities only during these periods. TA 2 or the "CARP Trails" will be closed to all other activities.
Dec 13-15th, Sat, Sun, and Monday. We worked with Camp to be able to narrow these hunts down to two weekends and this is the last one. Trust me this is a lot better than the original presentation. Don't bother driving out there you, won't be allowed in, I would suggest riding at Burns Park if you need to feed the monkey (and we all do). Burns is a great workout and a nice change of pace. Don't get the BullFrog blues too bad now..... :-) When I hear this I wish I had my first MT Bike!

Thank you in advance and Merry Christmas"
