NO Jingle Bell Ride...<--Posted Thursday, December 24, 2009 by Gary

This will come as no surprise to most of you, but for the first time ever, there will be no Jingle bell ride this year. Unless some of you have flippers installed on your wheels and tires, it would seem Camp is a swamp. In the wee hours this morning a team of Carp experts waded out on to our trails and decided it unwise to try it this year. The good news is this leaves more time to get to all those bike shops who help keep us going all year long. There is still time to spend, spend, spend! Everyone have a Merry Christmas and we'll see you next year.

Jingle Bell Ride....<--Posted Monday, December 21, 2009 by Gary

It's time once again to get out those bells, decorate your bikes and bundle up for the annual Jingle Bell ride. Every year on Christmas Eve everyone is invited to come do a relatively short pre-Christmas ride. We'll meet in the new parking lot at 1:30 to head out. Basil will, no doubt, have some cookies, cider and hot cocoa on hand for after the ride. Be sure to bring a camera we always stop for some Kodak moments somewhere along the way. I know it's going to be wet and cold, but hey were mountain bike riders we love it! See you there.

Spaghetti all' Amatriciana....<--Posted Saturday, December 5, 2009 by Gary

It's that time of year again when we love to eat....here's one of our favorites from an italian cycle guide. Bucatini is the classic pasta for this but be careful as these "hoses" tend to fling the sauce when you twirl them around your fork!
1 lb dry spaghetti or bucatini 1/4 lb pancetta (or bacon) 1 small onion, finely sliced 1 clove garlic, chopped 15 oz can chopped tomatoes 1/2 t red pepper flakes 1/4 C whipping cream 1/2 C pecorino romano cheese, grated
Start the pasta water, then chop pancetta and cook in a large skillet until lightly browned. Drain all but 1 T of fat, then add onion, garlic, red pepper, cook until soft. Stir in tomatoes, cook until thickened (10-15 minutes). Remove from heat and add cream and half the cheese. Add pasta to sauce, toss together and serve with additional cheese.
cibo molto buono!
