Park Tool CT-3 Upgrade......<--Posted Thursday, April 27, 2006 by Gary
News has been pretty slow lately...so thought we would throw this bit of chain trivia out here to prove we're still here :-) Jack G had an interesting question he posed to Park Tools, maker of fine bicycle tools....here it is:

Park Tool..Could you please tell me if your CT-3 chain tool is ok to use on a 10 speed chain. I know it works on shimano's 8 and 9 speed. What about the 10?

    thank you very much..

    Jack

...and Park Tool's friendly response here:

The CT-3 will work on the 10 speed. See http://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=25

We have made a running change to the pin. It has a point now. If yours does not have a pointed end send a postal address and we will send one.

    Calvin Jones
    Park Tool

...if your a proud owner of the CT-3, looks like you might just be able to get an upgraded tool like Jack did. Contact Park directly if this interest you. All for now. Thanks Jack!

BACA Meeting, 7 p.m., Thursday, April 6.....<--Posted Wednesday, April 5, 2006 by Gary
    1) BACA Meeting, 7 p.m., Thursday, April 6 - Report on National Bike Summit

Jennifer Shaw and Coreen Frasier, BACA's two representatives to the National Bike Summit, will report on the Summit recently held in March in Washington, D.C. They promise an exciting and informative PowerPoint enhanced presentation. Plan on attending to learn about bicycle advocacy nationwide and what we can do locally to promote bicycling. In addition, we will have elections for new officers, as well as updates on Bike to Work Day and the Ride of Silence to be held in May, the move to open the Jimerson Creek section of the River Trail to vehicular traffic, and other matters of interest to members. Hope to see you there.

    (2) DON'T FORGET - THIS FRIDAY MORNING:

    FIRST FRIDAYS BIKE TO WORK
    AND - OR
    BREAKFAST AT THE RIVER MARKET

Bike from the first parking lot (next to the kiosk) just before the I-430 Bridge & the River Trail at the foot of River Mountain Road to the Downtown Little Rock River Market at 6:30 a.m. this Friday (& the first Friday of every month). To participate in First Fridays Bike to Work you need only show up & be ready to ride. The rides are very informal. THERE IS NO POLICE ESCORT, NO TRANSPORT FOR CLOTHING, NO PLACE TO LOCK UP YOUR BIKE (at the River Market there are bike racks to which your bike could be locked), NO EXTRA SECURITY FOR CARS LEFT IN THE PARKING LOTS, ETC. In short, no services, security, or support other than the group ride itself. Of course, participation does not require that you actually bike to work downtown. Some participants bike to breakfast at the River Market & then return.

    Hope to see you there.

    For details: Call Ken Gould: H - 225-5343; W - 324-9952; e-mail - lanskygould@comcast.net

(NOTE! We ride the first Friday of every month but not in rain, snow or if the streets are icy.)
