Cookout Tomorrow night at Camp!<--Posted Tuesday, July 31, 2007 by Gary

It's that time! Lewis and Clark a new store in Little Rock will be sponsoring our cookout tomorrow night at 7:30pm. Lewis and Clark is an outfitter for all kind of toys for guys and girls like us. If you love to hike, paddle, bike, camp, or climb, you'll want to check out tomorrow night. We will meet at the usual place, not at the new parking, food and drinks will be provided. Bring your bike to ride, then be ready to chow on whatever they decide to serve up. I'll be there, it's free to Carp members, don't bring money just an empty stomach and a ridin' buddy. See you there, Gary

Hi Gary, I had my bike stolen too - two weeks ago- out of my backyard on Palm St. in Hillcrest. It's a Specialized Rockhopper - silver - xtra small. Has a Girls Love Dirt sticker on it - although I'm sure they've scrubbed that off by now. It has had a rusting chain - the reason it was not secured was that I was about to load it up, the next day, and take it in for it's annual check-up! I've heard there is a rash of bike and petty thefts out of yards in Hillcrest and the Heights, so people might want to secure the things they have in their yards, lock their gates, etc. Thanks, Julie West
it seems like the bike bandits like the Fisher brand, i also got an Excal stolen from my garage, I will keep an eye out! GO CARP! Noy Bayani
Tips for Securing Bike in the Garage<--Posted Monday, July 30, 2007 by Gary

Jeff Jenkins sends these tips for securing your bike along....
I have a tip that you might pass along. While it is always best to keep your garage door shut that often doesn't happen. I myself am guilty of that most of the time.
Here are a couple good tips though. If you hang your bike upside down on a rack, thread a large eyebolt into a stud in the wall and run a chain lock around your bike. If you keep it on the ground, at least take the front wheel off and mount your bike on a stand. I use a 2 x 4 cut down with a fork mount. And finally, take your front tire and put it in the closet or something so that they can't ride away. Most thieves are extremely lazy and if they have to put forth some effort, they till typically look elsewhere.
Thanks Jeff!

I just got this today, keep your eyes peeled!
Gary, Can you send out an alert for us. Sarah's bike has been stolen from our garage. It is a Gary Fisher Sugar with a black and gray frame and sparkly blue Marzzochi fork. If you see it, you can alert us by calling either 501-247-5948 or 501-960-3146. Bike thieves are our enemy. Let's get 'em! Thanks, Matt & Sarah Henry

Wed Sponsors Needed.....<--Posted Monday, July 9, 2007 by Gary

As of today, CARP has no plans for a cookout this Wed. night. We plan to have a cookout every month this summer, however, we have no sponsor for the month of July. Let me know if you would like to do the Monthly Cookout. Sorry about the late notice, I haven't tried to solicit sponsors, and nobody knew we needed sponsors. However, now the secret is out, give me a call (835-6721 or 551-0038) or drop me a line at gary@carpclub.com.
Great way to get your web site linked for your business....
Hopefully next week we'll have the cookout!

Gary-
Just wanted to write and you tell you how much fun my husband and I had in Arkansas.
I am from Colorado and New Mexico and my husband is from Montana - we are currently living in Houston. We were very excited to be getting out of the flat land on into some real mountain biking country.
Arkansas is a beautiful state - we had an awesome time. We camped two nights at Mt.Magazine State Park and rode both days on trails that are in the park. Then we drove to Camp Robinson and didn't want to leave - we were only able to get through about three trails. Those trails are incredible, some of the better I have ever ridin. Sweetness! - we will definitly be coming back even though we live in Houston.
