Due to a flood of competition and what seems a lack of interest, Carptoberfest is cancelled. Those of you who signed up will receive a refund. Look for something fun at another time, this just wasn't meant to be. Many thanks to those whose planned to volunteer and of course to our Sponsors.
Very Sorry, Gary Lamb President

Check this out! Steve Baker aka Steve-o the DJ will be playing all the music at Carptoberfest. He sends me this info:
Information on how your guests can use the DJ Steve-O interactive website to make song requests for your Sunday, October 08, 2006 Carptoberfest.
A special web page has been set up just for your event where your guests can go to submit requests. You can access this web page at http://www.djsteveo.djintelligence.com/request/carp
Please save it for future reference!
This is too cool, you can go there pick out songs you want to hear, and he'll have'em ready Sunday. I think he must have every song known to man. You 'll love it - "Do it!"- "Do it now!"
I just added two of my fav's! AeroSmith's "Back In The Saddle", and Deep Purple's "Highway Star".
ROCK ON! Gary

Wed Night Update....and BACA Meeting<--Posted Wednesday, September 6, 2006 by Gary

Wed. night Update
Also this note from Joe Jacobs: Okay guys, I finally worked out the deal. Chuck Haralson, Chief Photographer with Arkansas Parks & Tourism wants to get some shots of real mountain bikes (no models) out at Camp Wednesday night. I took him out today to look for a good place to shoot. We decided on aplace on Zig-Zag. It's right near the second entrance on the left from Double Dip (I think, if my color blindness is not messing with me. It's the area with some switchbacks and a dry creek crossing on one of the wooden bridges). We will be out there about 4:30 PM or 5:00 PM to meet people and see who would like to get their photos taken. This is not for a particular news story but for shots in the 2007 tour guide and tourism website. The really cool thing is that the photos will be public property (you ain't got to pay for them). They will be available digitally in the near future. Anyway, I was hoping you guys could get the word out. We are really trying to promote mountain biking and other adventure sports throughout the state. Thanks Guys! jacobs-j@swbell.net -------------------------------
Reminder - BACA Meeting, Thursday, September 7th, 7:00 p.m. Oyster Bar - Get a Shirt for the Big Dam Bridge Grand Opening Ride
Representatives from Ft. Roots Veteran's Administration will speak at the September BACA meeting. VA officials recently accommodated bicyclists by placing a path around the gate at the top of the Ft. Roots hill. Please plan on attending to show your gratitude for the VA's support of bicycling & their cooperation in working with BACA to keep the south entrance to Ft. Roots open to bicyclists.

Wed. night, the weather is perfect for a cookout! David Nutt will serving up some yummy Barbeque. I've been waiting all summer, now it has cooled down. The time is 7:00pm at the Carp Pad (just down the road from the big Carp sign where we park). Bring your bike, ride, eat, hang out, no cost, Carp members only. Cold drinks will be provided. Call your friends, bring your bike ridin' buddy and come on out. Ride till ya drop, eat till ya pop!
See you there.
