BACA Meeting - Oct 2nd, 7:00 PM<--Posted Saturday, September 27, 2008 by Gary

From BACA
A number of BACA supporters have expressed concern that the October 2nd meeting will interfere with their ability to watch the Vice Presidential debate. We want to have as many people as possible at the meeting to hear about Metroplan's Operation Bottleneck and to let Metroplan know that we are concerned about its regional trsnsportation plan. So,we have revised our meeting plans. We will have a regular memebership meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, but will reschedule the Metroplan representative. The meeting will adjourn by 8:00 p.m. and the Oyster Bar will have the debate on its big screen TV in the meeting room. So you can attend the meeting, and then if you want, continue to eat and drink and watch the debate with fellow bicyclists.
Please plan on attending the October 2nd meeting. We will have updates on advocacy efforts, including a report on BACA's Close the Loop Task Force, as well as news of upcoming events. BACA is a non-partisan organization. We do not endorse political candidates. The debate broadcast is not a BACA event, and is free and open to anyone who wants to attend.

Orbea Factory Outlet Store To Open Soon....<--Posted Wednesday, September 10, 2008 by Gary

Cycling Paparazzi is reporting that a new Orbea Factory Outlet Store is due to open any day now somewhere in the heights area of Little Rock. We did not get much information except the new store will be selling "Factory Outlet" bicycles and apparel. "Factory Outlet" - meaning bicycles which are Show & Demo bikes and discontinued bicycle clothing, but otherwise are in excellent condition for those of us who don't wish to sell their first born for a bicycle. Yepee for all of us poor cycling peasants who can't keep up with the Joneses who are dropping $4000 to $6000 on a bicycle! The apparel will be in the same category. Rumor has it the new store will be modeled after the Orbea Outlet in Spain. The store will have some very sophisticated equipment to measure riders for the purpose of recommending the starting point for size of bike, length of stem, height of saddle etc. The store is owned in part by Orbea and partly by another group of investors. A press release is due out any day now from store manager Ian Hope, so look for that shortly.
Next door will be an Organic Foods grocery which also carry some great flavors of coffee.
Update from ABC's News Ian Hope announced that within the next 3-4 weeks, Orbea will move into their new headquarters at the intersection of Kavannaugh and Markham. He will manage the store which will offer a large inventory of discounted Orbea bikes. There will be no repair services, but discounted bicycling apparel which would appeal to all bicyclers.
